Planning Your Spring Staycation
Open the shutters and light the linen-scented candles; spring has finally sprung! Once you’ve finished your spring cleaning, consider planning a well-deserved and serene staycation. No matter where you live in the world, adventure is always just outside your front door.
Our best tips for enjoying a spring staycation:
1.) Start Fresh
Laundry, dishes, and errands are a major buzzkill when you’re trying to spend time unwinding Get all of your mundane tasks done ahead of time so you can enjoy your staycation with no pressure or expectations.
2.) Consider Your Clothes
Just because you’re not traveling far doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pack thoughtfully! Being prepared for your day or weekend out of the house will save you from having to make any impromptu pit stops at home. Bring a small backpack or tote bag on your adventure with a change of clothes, a toothbrush, and snacks. Wear comfortable, versatile shoes like The Zilker or The Barton for a seamless transition from daytime to night.
3.) Make An Itinerary
Pretending to be a tourist in your own town can open your mind to activities, restaurants, and lodging you wouldn’t take advantage of on a typical weekend. Creating an itinerary is a great way to plan your time off thoughtfully. Include new restaurants, activities, and other planned events for a day packed with new experiences.
4.) Unplug For Awhile
Staycations are an excellent time to shut off your devices and live in the present. After all, you probably know your own town like the back of your hand and won’t need to rely on google maps too much to get around. Want to document your day out? Bring a polaroid or digital camera.
5.) Don’t Forget Souvenirs!
T-shirts, postcards, and keychains are a must at the conclusion of any getaway. Corny? Maybe. But we think a small token of remembrance is a pretty sweet way to cap off your hometown tour.
