Autumn Adventure Bucket List

With the beginning of autumn comes cooler temperatures, picturesque scenery, and pumpkin flavored everything. Considering all of the wonderful treats the season brings, it’s no surprise that people young and young at heart alike look forward to fall. If you’re an adventure enthusiast, the weather and changing leaves alone may inspire you to travel or explore your local surroundings.

Pumpkin patch visits and apple picking excursions are classically fun fall activities, but if you’re looking for something a little more out of the box or off the grid, we've got you covered. Whether you venture away from your neighborhood or stay in your backyard, you’ll fall hard for these unique autumn activities.

Adventurer’s Fall Bucket List

Bake something challenging like a fancy pumpkin cheesecake you saw on TikTok or your Grandma’s homemade apple pie. If you succeed, you’ll feel a profound sense of accomplishment and will have a delicious end result to enjoy. If you don’t, hey – at least you challenged yourself and attempted something new.

Baking might not seem all that adventurous on paper, but trying new skills in the kitchen can be as daunting as skydiving for some. Don’t underestimate your ability to bake something beautiful; trust us, the sense of accomplishment is worth it.

Glamp under the stars for an adventure that doesn’t make you sacrifice the comforts of home. While camping is great in its own right, glamping can come with cozy perks like electricity, running water, and a big, fluffy mattress. With the weather turning colder, you’ll appreciate these warm and thoughtful details as day turns to night.

A quick google search for “glamping near me” will likely bring up a host of getaway options, many of which are also on AirBNB, VRBO, and similar lodging websites.

Hike somewhere new or embark on a more challenging trail than usual. Hiking during the fall means less sweat and more scenery, making it a great season to push yourself to new heights. Bring your closest friends and a thermos of cider or hot chocolate to enjoy once you reach the peak. We encourage seeking out spots that have lots of foliage and incredible views, even if that means making a bit of a journey to get there.

When you’re done with your hike, find a new lunch spot or local farmer’s market to enjoy as a group. Enjoying fall desserts after hiking is as balanced of an autumn outing as they come.

Zipline through the trees and feel the adrenaline rush of the drops and turns along the way. By doing this activity during fall, you’ll be able to take advantage of gorgeous scenery and cooler breezes while racing through the treetops. Ziplining is a safe and commonly found activity in plenty of places, but be sure to pick a reputable business with experienced guides and lots of good reviews before taking the plunge.

Travel by train for a hands-off experience that makes going the distance less cumbersome. Trains are a great mode of transportation year-round, but they become even more magical as fall makes its appearance. Bring a friend or a good book and show up early to snag the coveted window seat. Spend your trip looking out the window, listening to music, and venturing to the snack cart in the caboose. If you’re so inclined, many train systems also offer libations for guests to sip along the way.

With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to going everywhere and doing everything this fall. What are you most looking forward to about the season of pumpkin spice and everything nice? Let us know in the comments below!
